All about social software and networks
Elroy Jetson (aka - Jim King) is the identity that I blog under, for no other reason than The Jetsons are super cool and I was able to register the domain. I have been programming since 1986 starting out on my state of the art Commodore VIC 20. I moved through basic and then bounced around a while until my introduction to SunOS 1 in 1992. I fell in love with the beauty of unix and never looked back. In 1996, I got my first professional gig as a Solaris administrator. By 1998 I saw the writing on the wall that the internet was about to explode so I got a job as a web developer. I have been working in web development ever since.
I have developed in a number of programming languages from c to PERL, currently PHP, but I have found a special love for the simplicity and elegance of Ruby and the Ruby-on-Rails framework that has not really been duplicated anywhere else.
About 2000, just after the Y2K “crisis” was over, I realized that developers are not good at selling the internet. Ever since my focus has been on Internet marketing with all the projects I work on. So I am a developer that develops with a marketing eye. I do still develop for developments sake, but only as a hobby.
