Jefferson was an incredible curator of books. It is possible to even argue that the Library of Congress is really the original Jefferson library, since after the war of 1812 Jefferson sold his personal library. He rebuilt his personal library and it resided in a room down a connecting hall from his study. This suite of rooms made up his Sanctum Sanctorum. Aside from naval captains of this period, Jefferson has always been my favorite 18th century figure.
